Dr. Isaac Shpantzer, Phd.: Chief Technology Officer and Founder
Isaac is a successful entrepreneur, technology visionary and accomplished inventor with over 50 years of advanced engineering achievements in communications, sensing and detection. Isaac has a track record of inventing and building advanced technologies and products that others typically find hard to fathom. He authored 40 U.S. patents, including core telecom technologies being deployed world-wide such as “WiMax” and “40G/100G”. In 1999, Isaac was the founding CTO at CeLight where he developed breakthrough optical communications and sensor technologies for telecom, defense and homeland security markets including the architecture and key components enabling “40G/100G” for telecom, a standoff explosives detection system prototype, a high-Z material (e.g. shielded dirty bomb) detection system prototype, and a free-space optical communications link prototype. Prior to CeLight, Isaac was Founder and President of NextNet, where he architected a WiMax carrier-class wireless data communications system being deployed by service providers around the world. NextNet was acquired by Craig McCaw’s Clearwire and then by Motorola for $300M. Prior to NextNet, Isaac was Senior Vice President of Engineering at Racotek, which was taken public with a $230M IPO based on his development of a mobile communications system with tens of thousands of deployed mobile nodes. Previously, he developed technologies and products in the areas of fiber optics, electronic warfare, vector signal processing (at Zoran) and distributed SCADA systems and also managed the Systems Division of Israel's Nuclear Research Center. Isaac has a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba.
Mr. Toomas Kilm: Chief Executive Officer and Founder
Toomas is a seasoned corporate and start-up executive with over 40 years of hands-on and leadership accomplishments in the strategy, definition, implementation, marketing and sales of advanced technologies and products for the telecom and defense/homeland security markets. As the President and CEO of CeLight, Inc. beginning in 2005, he transitioned the company to government markets due to the telecom bubble and quickly booked millions of dollars of revenue as a prime-contractor and sub-contractor working with tier 1 defense integrators. The company developed and successfully tested a standoff explosives detection system prototype, a high-Z material detection system prototype, a free-space optical communications link prototype and other proprietary optical communications, sensing and detection technologies. Toomas joined CeLight’s co-founders at its inception in 2000 as Executive Vice President with responsibility for Product Management, Business Development, Marketing and Sales and helped secure multiple rounds of investor financing. Prior to CeLIght, from 1980-1999, Toomas held increasing leadership roles with Bell Labs, AT&T and Lucent Technologies in advanced technology, engineering, systems, technical marketing, sales and business development positions. As Vice President of Lucent’s Optical Networking Group, he had business, marketing and product responsibility for the largest North American based global, national and regional carrier customers with direct responsibility to successfully grow his segment to $2.1B in sales in 1999. Toomas has a B.E. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Biomedical Engineering from City College of New York, an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University and an MBA in Marketing from Rutgers University.
